Stephen Colbert is not only well respected in the comedy domain, but also in the political realm of the United States. He has esteemed history for rallying around his fellow Americans and speaking up for what he believes in. In 2006, he was the main entertainer of the White House Correspondents Dinner. In 2007, he attempted to run for President with a Democratic Bid, but was unfortunately denied by the South Carolina Democratic Party executive council. In 2009, Colbert created a series called, “Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando” where he went to Iraq to show his unity and encouragement for the US troops. And in 2010, he participated in a Congressional Testimony and spent the day supporting migrant workers in Upstate New York and he was a participant in the Washington DC rallies as well. Colbert was born in Washington, DC and grew up in South Carolina; he has long recognized the significance of American Politics.
